Scammers, recruiters and syndicate members will face mandatory caning of six to 24 strokes under new laws. Mules who provide their bank accounts, SIM cards or Singpass can get up to 12 strokes, at the court’s discretion. Scams now make up 60% of all reported crimes. Between 2020 and the first half of this year, there were about 190,000 scam cases with some S$3.7 billion lost. Muhammad Bahajjaj with more.
